Hair Mask for Dry Hair
A five-minute weekly hair mask routine for dry hair: apply to damp mid-lengths, leave it while you finish your shower, rinse cool.

The 5-minute routine
- Start on damp, clean hair. Right after a wash, while hair is still damp but not dripping. The mask needs a clean base to do anything at all.
- Mid-lengths to ends only. Use a coin-sized amount, working downward from the ears. The scalp makes its own oil — masks on the roots just weigh dry hair down.
- Leave it three to four minutes. That is about how long a normal shower takes. Five minutes of waiting is not a spa treatment, it is a habit you can keep.
- Rinse cool, gently. Cool water closes the cuticle so the softness you just paid for stays. Warm water opens it back up.
- Finish the routine. Blot dry and seal the last few inches with a drop of oil or leave-in, the same way as any wash day.
How often
Once a week is enough for most dry hair. Twice a week sits fine too — more than that and hair starts to feel coated rather than cared for.
Two mistakes that undo the mask
- Applying it to the scalp — the fastest way to turn a mask into a wash-day problem. Ends only.
- Leaving it on for thirty minutes and calling that progress — five minutes every week beats a long session you skip.
Save this for wash day
