Night Skincare Routine for Dry Skin
A three-step night routine for dry skin: cleanse if needed, moisturize generously, and seal with a balm — the last two steps are where dry skin actually recovers.

The 3 steps
- Cleanse — or skip it. A gentle cleanser only if you wore sunscreen or makeup. Bare skin from a quiet day can go straight to moisturizer; over-cleansing is what leaves dry skin tight.
- Moisturize generously. A richer night cream than your morning one, applied to slightly damp skin. Night is the step where the last two minutes actually buy you something.
- Seal where it matters. A thin layer of balm or oil on the driest zones — cheeks, around the nose, jawline. Seal the dry patches, skip the oily ones.
How often
Every night. Consistency beats intensity here: the same three gentle steps on a tired Tuesday do more than a long treatment on a Sunday.
Two mistakes that undo the routine
- Washing with hot water to feel clean — it strips exactly what dry skin cannot spare. Lukewarm, brief, done.
- Waiting for skin to fully dry before moisturizing — you lose the damp-skin window that makes the cream work. Pat, do not towel.
